Thursday, March 20th | Casa de Stela | 838 NW Bond St, Downtown Bend
Join us for a hands-on Indigo Dyeing Workshop at Casa de Stela, where we’ll activate an indigo vat together and explore the magic of natural dyeing. Each participant will receive two cotton tea towels to transform with rich, deep blues, and you’re welcome to bring a small personal item (no larger than a pillowcase) to dye as well.
We’ll experiment with various resist techniques, discovering how folds, ties, and clamps create unique patterns. This workshop features El Salvadorian indigo, extracted from the Guatemalensis and Indigofera Suffruticosa species of the Xiquilite plant—a dyeing tradition dating back to the Mayan civilization, where indigo was treasured as "Blue Gold" for its use in art, pottery, and textiles.
